WE'RE ALL UNIQUE - WE THINK IT'S WORTH CELEBRATING

In a competitive world, there can be no greater strength then being unique. With 400,000 species of beetles, who have conquered the world through finding abundant niches, specialising and working towards their strengths, they provide a great many lessons. With our Creative Directions we seek to celebrate what makes you unique, because this is your greatest strength and will ensure authenticity and ultimately create an emotional connection with your customers through a memorable brand. Whilst many designers have a certain style, our strength is our diversity in styles from highly elaborate artworks and illustrations through to premium, minimalist designs, reflected in the range of our work. Below are some of the unique projects we are fortunate to have been involved in and the Creative Direction that lead to such unique outcomes.

DUCK POND CELLARS CREATIVE DIRECTION

We first worked with Duck Pond Cellars on a Concept brand called Flight. The screen-printed design depicting humanities fascination with flight throughout history and remains one of my favourite designs but unfortunately ‘Flight Wines’ was already protected by copyright so could not continue. Whilst disappointing that that project didn’t amount to more, it was integral in building a strong relationship, winning over the teams confidence before taking on the monumental task of tackling their main brand Duck Pond Cellars. Duck Pond’s is the second largest winery in Oregon USA and a rebranding for a winery of this scale, with a…Read More

FLOR MARCHE

Flor Marche is a unique brand as each label is dedicated to a different family member making each label highly unique. The Longley label for example was dedicated to a late great uncle who was an early curator of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens. I was able to find a letter he had written about an injured swan, which he aided shedding some light on the man and helping to build the many layers to his personality. The label showcases his favourite flower, the Botanical Gardens plan, the letter he wrote about the swan, a silhouette of him on a…Read More

LA LA LAND WINES

Lalaland Wines was one of those dream briefs, a new concept brand to be loosely inspired by Alice in Wonderland with a Surrealist and Spanish twist. The starting point for this Creative Direction was to refresh my memory of the Alice in Wonderland books and movies. There have been dozens of creative interpretations of Alice in Wonderland over the decades, all unique and adding their own layers to the stories. I wasn’t interested in retelling an already known story, I wanted to invent side stories or take truly new interpretations. For example, we know that the Mad hatter and…Read More

L’ENOLOGA [THE WINEMAKER]

L’enologa is Italian for Female Winemaker. I had visited Liz in Mildura, where she was pushing the boundaries, creating unique small-batch Italian variety wines in a climate not dissimilar to Southern Italy. Liz had studied and worked in Italy, learning some of the Age honoured winemaking techniques and wanted to bring this attention to detail and quality to a region better known for bulk wines. At the time of working on this project I was living in Florence, so the Italian inspiration was part of my daily life. Something I jumped on early was the notion of two world’s colliding…Read More
